Can you lose your job because of your social media behaviour?
Social media networks have grown in massive numbers ever since the inception of Facebook, big companies, politicians and entertainers both use social media to interactive with their followers and clients.
This makes it more interesting, how does it effects you as an employee or potential future employee?
Surely your social media account is yours, shouldn’t bother your employer right? oh well wrong!!
A study by the Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that 84% of employers recruit via social media, and 43% of employers screen job candidates through social networks and search engines.
That is a big percentage of Employers who are monitoring you via social media, they also check your behaviour, conduct and your interaction with others, so you are actually under a microscope 24/7 like a little naughty child.
We have also heard a lot of cases where an employee was fired because of what they posted on social media , brands want to be associated with people who are well mannered and behaved even when they leave their offices.
Feeling like not going to work tomorrow? some people have done this, went and get sick notes while they were actually not sick and then go partying with friends and post photos on social networks and their bosses saw the posts, guess what? they got fired.
I’m sure you have heard about a lot of celebrities who have lost endorsements because of their social media posts.
So my advise is always behave on social media as not doing so might jeopardise a life changing chance that was coming your way.
